Spinnaker furlers are used with anti-twist rope that serves both as a link between the turret and the swivel and as a furling support for the sail. This anti-twist rope must be cut to the correct length. The stiffness and fiber positioning of this rope make splicing and sewing very difficult. The clamp is therefore the simplest solution to implement.
